ABOUT THE CHINA OBSERVER
The China Observer is an independent platform dedicated to Chinese overseas investment. The purpose of The China Observer is to educate and engage multinational corporations, governments and other key stakeholders in the area of Chinese outbound investment.
Chinese firms in numerous sectors are “going global” at unprecedented rates – and this is only the beginning of what will be a long-term phenomenon. From state-owned enterprises like China National Offshore Oil Corporation (CNOOC) and Sany Heavy to private firms like Lenovo and Wanda, Chinese companies are expanding into developed and developing markets alike. However, the large-scale investment by these firms is not always welcome. There is a lack of understanding by foreign governments about the real drivers of Chinese investment in their countries. Many Chinese firms are operating in international markets for the first time and lack the experience required to demonstrate their long-term interest in the overseas market.
Since 2008, The China Observer has strived to ensure the global business community maximizes the benefits of China’s rise and to discuss the role of Chinese corporations as responsible stakeholders.
